"Cybercrime and Security" - Derek Hedrick, President, Ameritech Data Solutions
Sixty percent of businesses fold within 6 months of falling victim to a cyber attack. Cybercrime is a hot topic and of great concern in today's environment of digital technology. Our presentation of Cybercrime and Security, "How does it affect me and my company?" was developed with you in mind. What we will cover in this presentation is the origin of cybercrime, some key terms and definitions that you will need to know and that you will hear mentioned in news feeds from time to time, the current state of cybercrime, and a future projection of cybercrime. In addition, we plan to cover why people commit cybercrime, and some methods that you can use to identify cybercrime. Lastly, we will cover your role in cybercrime and what legal impact cybercrime can have on your business, as well as some additional security measures you can take to help you in the fight.
"TAB & Cleanroom - Bridging the Gap" - Patrick Law, Hepatest
This presentation will explore what a NEBB TAB technician/professional should know prior to balancing a cleanroom project. While we may use the same instruments at times, how they are used and how the results are expressed and interpreted can be different. Having a better understanding of what will take place after the TAB is completed can make the job go smoother with minimal hiccups for everyone, including the shared client and thus meet everyone's expectations.

In this presentation, we will be discussing chilled beams. Topics will include operational differences between chilled beam active and passive units, product features, application considerations, and more.
About the Speakers:
Derek Hedrick, President, Ameritech Data Solutions spent 6 years in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Health Physics Technician onboard the USS Bluefish SSM 675. Derek then spent the next 10 years in the environmental science industry developing automated reporting applications for commercial laboratories as well as maintaining Intranet and Internet Security Protocols. In 1999, while independently for small businesses in eastern North Carolina, Derek was introduced to the Sheet Metal & TAB industries. Derek has worked with Sheet Metal and TAB companies across the United States to develop streamline project management products to support their industry. At the same time, Derek provided a complete line of network security products and services through his computer consulting division. In addition to the Test and Balance Industry, Derek has developed automated software for Wastewater Treatment Facilities, Law Office Operations, Property Management, Cemetery Management, Accounting, Industrial Production, and Industrial Inventory Control.
Patrick Law, Hepatest - Testing and certifying cleanrooms for the past thirty years, Pat joined the NEBB family of professionals shortly aft the first Cleanroom Procedural Standards was published. Pat has been developing curriculum, practical exams and teaching at NEBB seminars for the past 20 years. Pat has led NEBB's Cleanroom discipline as a past Cleanroom Committee Chair, and also currently serves on several NEBB Committees, including NEBB's Board as a Director.
Neal T. Holden, Krueger Specialty Products Manager - Neal has 12 years of experience in the HVAC industry working on the manufacturing side, During his tenure, he has served in different roles such as application engineer, and GRD engineering manager. Neal's current role as product manager focuses on specialty products such as Chilled Beams, Displacement, Critical Environment, and Healthcare Air Distribution.

The Annual Meeting also provides a forum for members to voice their opinions on various issues. If you have an item or topic you would like on the agenda, please contact the MEBB office. NOTE: Certified Firms who have at least (1) employee in a management position, preferably the Designated Certified Professional, attend the MEBB Annual Meeting on Sunday, September 20th will be entitled to receive a $400 discount on the firm’s 2021 MEBB chapter dues.
